Quatrefoil Bowl by Patricia Burrows
This bowl was handbuilt using thin slabs of paper porcelain, textured with lava rock. The inside and foot were glazed with a carbon trapping shino luster and the textured outside of the bowl was glazed with a wood ash glaze. Reduction fired. These glazes react to the environment, producing uneven color and texture known as “atmospheric effects”. The ash glaze is especially effective in combination with texture, as it pools in the recesses. 5 x 11 inches.
