Early Morning Net Casters by Jack Providenti
Oil on Canvas. 24" x 36" x 1.5" gallery wrapped.
I like to refer to this painting as a work of fiction based on a true story. The true story being netcasters on Williams Pier in Gulfport, Fl. It was just after a morning shower as clouds began to disperse amidst blazing morning sunlight. The fiction part was me using Creative License to change the color of the trash barrel from burnt sienna to red, then I exaggerated the reflections in the rain puddles. I also painted the entire cityscape and the pier railings a clear and punchy azure blue to complement the orange in the sky and water. Desiring to limit detail, I used palette knives and jumbo brushes to give it an expressionistic feeling.
