Palette knives add a freshness, an element of surprise, and vibrancy to a painting and offers a more spontaneous and loose approach to applying paint.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • ways to add texture to your paints with different mediums and paint.

  • different palette knife approaches for your current artistic style.

  • a new approach to unlock untapped creative potential.

MATERIALS/SUPPLIES:

Each participant will be provided a textured canvas to paint on and canvas paper to practice with.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • 2 diamond shaped trowel palette knives

  • one 2”- 3”long, one 1” long, with rounded ends and wooden handles.

  • 4-6 colors of a thick acrylic paint, such as Liquitex, Golden, or Windsor Newton.

  • an image you wish to work to try something abstract
