What You Will Learn:

• tools needed in oil painting

• proper use and care of painting tools

• basic color mixing

• introductory painting techniques

Who Should Participate:

Open to all artistic skill levels 18 years or older, this workshop is a good starting point for new painters as well as those who work in other mediums but are curious about oils.

The following supplies/equipment will be provided:

• Paint

• Canvas panel

• Palette

• Palette knife

• Gamsol

Some brushes will be available for students that don’t have them. 

Participants should bring the following supplies/equipment:

Brushes: a number 6 or so flat, bright or filbert brush suitable for oils. Can also bring a couple of other brushes in similar or smaller sizes. Brushes will be provided for students that don’t have one at home that they can bring.

About Your Instructor:

Janie Haskins is an impressionistic oil painter known for her colorful depictions of landscapes, birds, and life in Florida. In a former life, Janie was a lawyer representing entertainment industry clients in Los Angeles. Janie has studied with some of the premier landscape painters in the country and has taken top awards at regional plein air competitions. She has a studio at the Arts Xchange in St. Pete’s Warehouse Arts District.
